Religious Exemption Letter

Ceremony Access

Apply
Submit your application. We ask who you are, what brings you here, and that you affirm your sincere intent to participate in sacred religious practice. Come as you are. Come truthfully.
Review
Your application is read personally. Approval is not automated, not algorithmic. Allow up to 48 hours. We are not slow. We are careful.
Welcome
Upon approval you receive your membership card, your religious exemption letter, and access to the member community. You are now protected under federal law.
Prepare
Before attending your first ceremony you will speak with a minister. Not a checklist — a conversation. The medicine deserves that much.
Ceremony
You sit in circle. The fire is at the center. The medicine moves through. What happens next is between you and the Creator.
Integration
We walk with you after. 48 hours. One week. One month. The ceremony does not end when you leave the circle. Neither do we.
Questions people ask
Is there a cost to join?
There is no required payment for membership. The church is sustained by voluntary offerings from those who are moved to give. No one is turned away for inability to contribute. If you are able to give, give freely. If you cannot, come anyway.
Do I have to be Native American?
No. The Native American Church has a long tradition of welcoming all sincere seekers. What is required is sincere religious intent and a genuine commitment to the ceremonial path — not ethnicity, not heritage, not proximity to any particular tradition.
What legal protection does membership provide?
Membership in a recognized religious organization practicing sacramental use of plant medicines is protected under RFRA (Religious Freedom Restoration Act) and AIRFA (American Indian Religious Freedom Act). Your membership card and exemption letter document your standing. The Legal Protection page explains this in full.
Can I attend a ceremony before I apply?
No. Ceremony is for members of the fellowship. This is not gatekeeping — it is the structure that creates the container of trust and safety that makes ceremony possible. The medicine is not a spectator sport.
What if my application is not approved?
We may decline applications that do not reflect sincere religious intent, or where safety is a concern. We will always communicate our decision. If you are declined, you may apply again — life changes, and so do people.
Is my information kept private?
Yes. Your membership information is held in strict confidence within the church. It is not sold, shared, or disclosed for any purpose other than supporting your spiritual journey and, if necessary, your legal defense.
